Hugh Jackman looks fighting fit in the new stills for his upcoming Wolverine film, even though it has been 12 years since he roared onto our screens in the first X-Men film with Patrick Stewart.
Hugh Jackman takes up the role once again as Logan/Wolverine flying over to Japan where he trains as a samurai. Logan takes on the Yakuza as well as a corrupt minister in the sixth time that Wolverine will grace on screens.
The reported budget for the film came in at $100 million. Director James Mangold lifts the film from the end of 2006 movie X-Men: The Last Stand, which was the third X-Men film.
Wolverine takes place before X Men: Origins where it looked at the origins of Wolverine and introduced characters like The Deadpool and Gambit.
Jackman told MTV last year, “There are so many areas of that Japanese story,” he carried on to say “I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world – I can see it aesthetically, too – full of honour and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way,”
“The idea of the samurai, too — and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai — not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.”
The Wolverine will arrive in UK and US cinemas on July 26.
