Last year was the scene of some epic superhero movies with Batman: The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers making their releases some of the most talked about themes of the previous year.
2013 will be set to top 2012 for superhero movies with Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Man of Steel are set to be released this year.
Iron Man 3
– May 3
One of the most hotly anticipated movies of the year will be Iron Man 3. Robert Downey Jr. takes up his role again as Iron Man in his struggle against The Mandarin. Iron Man 3 will also include Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, and Don Cheadle, and comes from writer/director Shane Black.
Man of Steel
– June 14
In this reboot to Superman, ‘Man of Steel’ will trace the origins of Superman who will be played by Henry Cavill. Zack Snyder takes the clock back to when Clark Kent grows up with his Earth family and learns to use his powers as he slowly discovers them.
Batman’s own, Christopher Nolan worked as executive producer on the film. Superman’s dad, Jor-El, will be played by Russell Crowe and General Zod will be played by Michael Shannon.
– July 26
Hugh Jackman will take up his role once again as Wolverine which will follow up ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’ The new film for 2013 will see Wolverine head to Japan where he recieves more training but also takes on a suitable number of bad guys.
We’ve seen a lot of image teasers for the film so far but no trailer teaser has been released yet. A couple images of Viper have been released today but we are still waiting on images for the Silver Samurai.
Thor: The Dark World
– Nov 8
Thor: The Dark World follows up 2011’s Thor, the last time we saw the mighty god was in the Avengers as he supported Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man. Chris Hemsworth takes up his role as Thor fighting the powerful Malekith, who is determine to plunge the entire world into darkness.
Also returning are Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston, but we’re most excited about Christopher Eccleston (‘Doctor Who’) as the villainous Malekith.
